UNRAVELLING THE SPIRAL by Jack Harte
Unravelling the Spiral is an illuminating account of the life of the sculptor and teacher Fred Conlon.
Jack Harte wrote an account of Conlon's life, 'Unravelling the Spiral - The Life and Work of Fred Conlon'. The book is illustrated with photographs of Conlon’s work and Harte warmly tells the remarkable story of Conlon's life and furnishes a unique insight into his ideas and inspiration.
The two were cousins, friends and, for the first eight years of Harte’s life, next-door neighbours in the townland of Killeenduff, near Easky, in Co Sligo. There was just 10 months between them. “We grew up together, went to school together, more often than not ate our dinner from the same table,” Harte writes. Their paths diverged, but they remained close.
Fred's public sculptures are located all over Ireland and abroad as far as India and Japan. Harte is in a unique position to tell the story of Conlon's life and to give an insight into his mind and inspiration.
The book is illustrated with photographs of Fred Conlon’s work.
